AIOD Research Grants - 2005

Research Grants in the field of orthopaedic trauma surgery is jointly offered by

Objective

The objective of these grants is to encourage the development of clinical or basic research interests of young investigators in orthopaedic trauma surgery.

Topics

The principal investigator should be an orthopaedic trauma surgeon or a trainee in a recognized orthopaedic or trauma training program. Grants will be offered in 2005 exclusively to AIOD/FOT/AADO/JABO members, including one year Research Grants at up to 25,000 US$ and Young Researcher´s Educational Grants at 5,000 US$. The grant proposals should focus in the following topics:

  • Biology of fracture healing, including the treatment or enhancement of fracture repair
  • Osteoporosis and augmentation of fracture fixation in osteoporotic fractures
  • New technologies in fracture fixation, including computer-assisted surgery
  • Prophylaxis and treatment of infections in fractures

Applications

Pre-proposal applications should consist of three areas:

  • research question and background,
  • clinical relevance, and
  • research design.

Applications should be submitted electronically to research.committee@aiodnet.org by the latest 10 August, 2005. Authors of selected pre-proposals will be invited to submit a full-length grant application by 31 October, 2005.
