Workshop on Trauma Management
26th November, 2000

The 2nd Trauma Management Workshop was held on Sunday, 26th November 2000 in the Orthopaedic Learning Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong. There were 28 nurses from different hospitals attended the one-day programme. In the morning, following a welcome speech by Dr. W.Y. Shen, invited speakers delivered their lectures on topics of:

  • 1. Trauma nursing & assessment principles of trauma patient,
  • 2. Assessment of shock states,
  • 3. Experience sharing in visiting Trauma Center of Region Hospital, Minnesota, U.S.A.,
  • 4. Spinal immobilization, and
  • 5. Airway and Ventilation

The lectures were informative and interesting as the speakers presented the lectures vividly. In the afternoon, through demonstration and return-demonstration; participants not only showed their interests and enthusiasm, but also practiced within a supportive learning environment. They enjoyed learning through return-demonstration, sharing experience and exchanging skill and knowledge with the instructors. At the end of the day, a short video show of the workshop was wonderful and showing that the participants were concentrated and serious during the learning process.

To conclude, it was a successful workshop due to the great effort contributed by the speakers, instructors and members of the AADO nurse sub-committee.

Lastly, it is our pleasure to thank everybody for smooth running of the educational programme, especially the great contribution from the workshop coordinator, Mr. CHOY Wing Kwai.
