On 13th July 2008, immediately after the registration at 2:30 PM, I attended the pre-meeting symposium on ‘Osteoporosis and the myth of Colles’ which was made very interesting by speakers like Amy Ladd, Amy Hoang-Kim, Antonio Moroni, Aneor Sowyer and Stefen Goemacre. There was a warm welcome reception between 6 and 7 PM.

On 14th July 2008, symposium on ‘Osteoporotic drugs and fracture healing’ was quite beneficial. David Marsh’s talk on ‘Fracture healing in Osteoporosis’ was very informative. There were very good papers by research oriented people. I had a nice chat with these people. Infact this is the first conference where I saw clinicians, researchers, statisticians and manufacturers were there on one platform. Symposium on ‘Publish or perish’ was though provoking. It really made me think about publishing papers and how to do that. Symposium on ‘Complications in fracture healing’ was very nice. There were good papers on ‘Osteoporosis and fracture healing’. There was a good poster session where many papers were presented from all over the world.

On 15th July 2008, symposium on ‘Use of BMP’s and bone graft substitutes in clinical practice’ was very interesting. The talk by David Hak, on ‘BMP use in clinical practice’ was useful. Symposium on ‘Managing hip fractures in Osteoporotic patients’ was too good. The talk by Thomas Moroni on ‘When and how to fix’ was interesting. Paper presentations on basic science really took me to the basics. The Presidential guest lecture by A. Hari Reddy on ‘BMP’s and fractures: From repair to regeneration’ was enlightening.

On 16th July 2008, there were good papers on biomechanics, clinicals and basic science. I met many young research scientists and PhD people from many countries. Overall I had a nice opportunity to gain a lot of information on fracture repair from wide variety of people coming from all over the world.

Once again I thank AADO, for giving me this opportunity.
