AADO is going to organize a 9-month certificate course in Orthopaedics
& Traumatology for nurses with lectures and hands-on workshops.
Objective
- To provide nurses working in Orthopaedic
team with knowledge and skills to facilitate their day-to-day
duties
- To train nurses for taking up their roles on teaching junior
staff in Orthopaedic team
Entry Requirement
- Nurses with at least 12 months post-registration experience
- Priority will be given to
- member of AADO
- staff of the Orthopaedic Unit or Orthopaedic Team
in Operating Theatre
Course Information
Course Structure
- Lectures-18 sessions
- September 01, 2004 - May 25, 2005
- every alternate Wednesday, 6:30pm - 8:30pm
- Half day field visit at January 10-14, 2005 (Compulsory)
- Project Presentation - in Group
- Written examination : May 25, 2005 (6:30 - 8:00pm)
- Enhancement Hands-on Workshops I (optional and priority will
be given to ward nurse)
1) Physical Examination on Upper Limb
2) Physical Examination on Lower Limb
3) Skeletal Traction
4) X-ray Interpretation
- Enhancement Hands-on Workshops II (optional and priority will
be given to O.T. Nurse)
1) Basic Instrument for screw and plating
2) Hip Fracture
3) Intramedullary Nailing
4) External Fixator
5) Positioning of Patient on Traction Table & Positioning
of Patient for Spinal Surgery (in Operating Theatre, PWH
)

transferable.
Award
- Student with 80% attendance and pass their examination will
be awarded with a certificate of achievement for the course
- Student with 80% attendance will be awarded with certificate
of attendance for the workshops
Accreditation
- NAON Accreditation: 68.4 Contact Hours
- NAON is accredited as an approver of continuing education in
nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission
on Accreditation (ANCC-COA).
